CHARACTER NAME: Sam Winchester
CHARACTER AGE: late 20s
SERIES: Supernatural
CHRONOLOGY: I'm taking him from about halfway through Season 8, after 8x13 (before he starts the Trials but after they find the Men of Letter's hideout)
CLASS: A hero, though he'd be hard pressed to say he's one.
HOUSING: He can be alone or housed randomly, either is fine. (If he could be housed with his castmate Castiel that would be pretty awesome, but definitely not required.)
BACKGROUND: Sam's history is rather long and convoluted, considering he's a main character of a show that's been running for nine seasons, so here's his wiki link if you would like details. This is the general gist of it:
One night when Sam was six months old, a demon came into his room and spilled demon blood into his mouth. The same night, his mother burned to death on the ceiling of his nursery. Because of this, his father raised him and his older brother Dean to be hunters: killers of all things that go bump in the night. Sam was forced followed this lifestyle until he turned 18 and decided to leave his family and try to live a normal, safe life at Stanford. All his efforts turned to dust when his girlfriend, Jess, burned on the ceiling of his apartment after one fateful hunt with his brother, just like his mother did 22 years before. This is what triggers the rest of the events of the show and Sam's history.
A lot of things have happened since then that changed Sam drastically, but here are the highlights. He died. Then, he was brought back to life when Dean sold his soul, and eventually went to Hell because of it. After loosing his big brother, completely overcome with grief, a demon called Ruby got him addicted to demon blood, which feeds off of the already existing demon blood in his system that was put there by the demon who killed his mother and girlfriend. Even after getting Dean back, he remained addicted, since the blood boosted his demon killing and psychic powers. While all of this is happening, the two brothers were told by demons and angels alike that a demon called Lilith was working towards starting the Apocalypse. They were told that she was going to break the last of the 66 seals which would release Lucifer from Hell. Sam sucked an entire demon dry after an angry and violent fight with his brother and went to kill Lilith, believing that doing so would prevent the Apocalypse from occurring. What neither Heaven or Hell told him was that Lilith was the 66th seal. So when Sam killed Lilith with his powers, he released Lucifer and started Armageddon, which was the ultimate plan all along.
Additionally what the angels failed to to tell the brothers was that each of them were destined to be vessels, the bodies for angels to posses and act their will on Earth. Dean was the vessel of archangel Michael - and Sam, Lucifer, the container of the devil himself. In order for angels to posses their vessels, however, the vessels themselves have to agree to being possessed, which neither of the Winchesters had any intention of doing. They and their allies fought hard to find a way to overpower or outsmart Heaven's plan, and all of their plans failed while several people died. Sam was the one who comes up with their final plan - he would say yes to Lucifer, and then take control of his body again at the last possible moment before throwing himself and Lucifer both into Hell, trapping them both and ending the Apocalypse. It was completely impossible - but it worked. Seeing his older brother triggered a reaction deep within Sam, drew a strength out that he didn't know he had - and he overcame the Devil himself.
He was in Hell with Lucifer and Michael, who he also dragged with him, for a year in a half - which was well over a few hundred years with the way that time ran in Hell. His ally and friend Castiel, and angel, tried to save him, but managed to bring back only his body and not his soul. His body was a human without a moral compass, and he hunted ruthlessly and completely lacked the empathy and heart that made Sam who he was. After Dean made a deal with the horseman Death, his soul was returned to his body, but without any memories of what he did without a soul or any memories of Hell. He was warned many times that having those memories returned would result in a mental breakdown, and Castiel eventually broke the "wall" in his mind and returned those memories to distract the Winchesters from his own plans. Because of this, Sam suffered extreme mental trauma through remembering all of his time spent in Hell.
He suffered visual and audio hallucinations, mostly of Lucifer himself, who tried to convince him that he never actually escaped from Hell. He managed to keep these mostly in check through self-injury while the Winchesters delt with an impending threat of man-eating Leviathans, but eventually his body gave up and succumbed to the hallucinations. Castiel returned, however, and "shifted" those memories so that Sam could function and took the psychosis onto himself. Back on his feet, he, Dean, Castiel and an ally demon called Meg manage to kill the leader of the Leviathans, but in the shockblast, Dean and Castiel disappeared.
Sam believed his brother to be dead, and after a year, settled into a relatively normal life again with a woman named Amelia. He left, however, once his brother miraculously returned from the dead and discovered that he was actually in Purgatory, where they discovered all monsters go when they die. Now that they were reuninted, they had a new goal: close the gates of Hell forever.
PERSONALITY:
Sam Winchester is a difficult nut to crack. The best one-sentence descriptor of his is probably what I said before: he's the definition of a hero, but would never believe you if you told him so. After a lifetime of being considered a "freak" by both his peers and his family, and well as his contamination of demon blood and his former addition to it, not to mention the fact that he unintentionally started the Apocalypse, he has a hard time believing he's worthy of anything. Despite this, he still risks his life for the safety of others and is active in trying to save lives.
His brother, Dean, is the center of his world: although very resourceful and independent, if his brother isn't alive, he goes off-kilter. When he lost his brother the first time, he became an addict. Dean says many times how much he needs Sam to go on living, but Sam needs his brother just as much, if not more. Sam is capable of living and functioning on his own more than Dean is, but if he's threatened, Sam becomes murderous. Even though his anger has died down significantly after starting the Apocalypse and has gotten a better handle on his emotions since then, he still reacts to his emotions rather radically.
Speaking of emotions, Sam is usually interpreted as the more sensitive of the two brothers, of both his own emotions and other people's, while Dean is the smartass who hides his emotions. He's more willing to sit down and talk something out, and he sees the world in more shades than black and white unlike most hunters. He's also frequently considered the "geek" of the two of them, since Sam is adept at research and even got a full ride to university when he was young. Don't underestimate him because of these traits, however: he's been trained his entire life to kill, and he is very good at it. He knows just as much about hunting as Dean does, and that includes how to use various guns and weapons. If a creature is killing other humans, grey morality or not, Sam won't harbor much guilt over killing it.
At the end of the day, Sam wants to help people, and being a hunter is the best way he can do that. He's given up on the idea of living a normal life, and he's suffered tenfold for his mistakes, and in a lot of ways he still thinks he's not enough. All he really knows is that he needs his brother by his side.
POWER:
His demon blood powers allow him the ability of telekinesis, seeing future events (in canon it's seeing specifically deaths) and removing demons from their hosts. I'm thinking that the last one doesn't apply to this game, so his only powers will be the first two. Additionally, his powers won't need demon blood to be triggered (it seems difficult to get demons around here anyway!)

VIDEO
This is bullshit.
[The voice doesn't seem to have an owner at first, since all that can be seen on the video is a small room that's sparely filled: a desk, a lamp, and a bed in a corner. No decorations, nothing extraneous, except for a pile of books scattered across the bed and desk. Some of the titles aren't in English - Latin, maybe? Then, a man wanders onto the screen. He's remarkably tall - his head barely fits into the top of the screen - with brown hair and hazel eyes. After a moment, it's obvious that he's pacing, a hand on his hips.]
Of all the things to be captured by the military for, to be some kind of -- guinea pig for superhuman abilities? Seriously? [It's not obvious if he's more put out of just angry. He finally looks at the camera, but not directly, eyes hovering above it. Avoiding...something. Avoiding all of this as being true. He breathes out, and closes his eyes. When he opens them again - he's decided something.]
Listen. You obviously don't know shit about me, so listen: [He takes a step forward, and suddenly he's every inch of the height and mass that he usually tries to keep sedated for the sake of others. His voice isn't disbelieving anymore. It's angry.]
I don't like being played. By anyone. And I've faced much scarier things than you. [He looks directly at the camera.] If my brother is here, I will find him. And if you've done something to him ---
You'll regret ever putting me here. [He stares straight at you. The video cuts to black.]
LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
Of all the adversaries he ever expected he'd face, the military was never one of them.
They came for him when they were separated - Dean was at a bar and Sam was alone in their motel room, spilling over a few texts to help them with their hunt, which he was thinking at the time must've been a djinn. Suddenly, the door was kicked down - not knocked open, kicked down - and Sam only managed to get a few good jabs in before a needle was stuck into his neck, and everything went to black.
When he woke up, he was here. He sat on the metallic table he woke up on, head and eyes both blurry, still barely conscious when he felt a slight burning on the inside of his wrist. He thought he must have imagined it, until he twisted it in the shadows and saw an outline. He was branded, and anger flared up in him as soon as he realized it.
He wasn't handcuffed or restrained, so he sure as hell wasn't going to sit around and not try to escape. But there were no windows and only one metallic door. Sam tried opening it every way possible - breaking it down, using the plastic in his lase to try and unlock it - but options dwindled down quickly. Every time he tried, a voice from above asked him to be patient, and that someone would be with him shortly. After his last attempt, he gave the door one last frustrated kick before throwing his shoe up to the aggravating speaker. Not that it did much good.
He tried praying to Castiel as a last-ditch effort, but he didn't answer. He was back where he started, his hands on his legs, scratching at the fabric and eyes taking in every inch around him, looking for cracks in the system. I need to get back to Dean. It was the resounding thought in his head. Was Dean somewhere else in this place? Did they take him too? Or was he still out there in the world, looking for him?
Under that was his worry of why he was here in the first place. It wasn't hard to figure out, with the uniformed soldiers who took him and the precise, orderly way in which he was being handled. But he couldn't put together what the hell the military wanted from him. He and his brother had broken some petty laws in order to save people on their hunts, sure, but nothing needed for him to be treated to this extreme.
He glanced down at the tattoo that flickered in the shadows. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good.
When the door finally opened, he sat up straighter and braced his posture, nothing but venom in his eyes. If these guys thought that Sam would follow them without any trouble, well - they obviously don't know all that much about him.
FINAL NOTES:
If I get accepted, this will actually be my first game! So I apologize if I ask questions or seem a bit slow. If you need anything else from me, please let me know!
